Week 9 - Streaming Tight Ends

Not everyone has the luxury of starting George Kittle against the Arizona Cardinals, who give out fantasy points to tight ends like it’s Christmas. Luckily, I have the top five tight end dart throws of the week. As always, streamers are touchdown or bust, so temper expectations.

T.J. Hockenson @ Oakland (62.9% ESPN, 58% Yahoo): Hockenson has had three plus match ups for tight ends this season. He blew it in one, against the Vikings who are 12th in points allowed at the position. Hockenson gets a Raiders defense who has given up 6 touchdowns to tight ends in seven weeks, almost 1 per week. The Lions are down Kerryon Johnson for the season, against a Raiders team that is better against the run then I expected coming into the season. Hockenson is the best streaming option for the week for a team that should be throwing the ball.

Vance McDonald (46.3% ESPN, 55% Yahoo): The Steelers implied total in this game isn’t good, but Vance had an uptake in usage coming out of the bye week with his second highest snap share of the season. The Colts have allowed an average of 14.5 PPG against TEs. Vance has been efficient catching 17 of his 21 targets this season. He is hindered by quarterback play unfortunately making him a riskier tight end stream but the match up is in his favor and I think it is a risk worth taking.

Eric Ebron @ Pittsburgh (48.6% EPSN, 69% Yahoo): The Steelers have allowed the 14th most points to the tight end this season. Ebron, as a tight end, is the definition of touchdown or bust. The Steelers have allowed four touchdowns this season to the position. 2 of which were to Will Dissly while the other 2 were to Hunter Henry. There is potential Ebron busts in your line up, but he is averaging 4 targets per game so at the very least he has a consistent workload you can expect to stay consistent.

Dawson Knox vs Washington (5.2% ESPN, 10% Yahoo): Knox has had one TE1 finish this season, against Cincinnati, who can’t tackle anyone. He comes with some risk this week as although Washington has averaged 11.8 PPG to the position, they’ve only given up two touchdowns to it. I think Knox is a perfect dart throw if you aren’t looking for a ceiling play and just want a player who won’t lose your week for you.

Cameron Brate @ Seattle (3% ESPN, 8% Yahoo): This is the biggest hail marry tight end pick, more for TE premium leagues, or leagues with deep rosters. OJ Howard can’t get going for Tampa, he’s only received two red zone targets on the season, while Brate has recorded four red zone targets, with two touchdowns. Seattle has given up the fourth most fantasy points to apposing tight ends and four touchdowns on the season. Brate has red zone upside if the Bucs can hang with the Hawks.
