Week 13 - Tight End Dart Throws

If you read this article last week you were probably really happy with who you started. We had the TE4 and the TE10 here in Mike Gesicki, and Jaeden Graham. This position is so bad, that Graham’s 1 catch for 53 yards was just enough to make him the TE10 in Half PPR, yikes. This week I once again break down the top 5 dart throws at the position. When writing this, I’m assuming Ryan Griffin and Jacob Hollister are owned in your leagues but both of those players are better options than what I’m going to present.

Gerald Everett @ Arizona – The tight end gift that keeps on giving is back from bye week. Everett’s usage has been down coming out of the bye week, but even OJ Howard saw life against the Cardinals. If Sean McVay prepares well enough even Higbee could be a good fantasy start this week alongside of him. With Everett’s rough past two weeks he should have low ownership and is the best streaming option of the week.

Jonnu Smith @ Indianapolis – Coming out of the bye week, Smith had quite the disappointing fantasy week against the Jags seeing 0 targets on his 10 routes ran. Despite all that though, he has a juicy match up coming up against the Colts who made Vance McDonald look like what everyone drafted him to be this year. They’re averaging 13 points to the position making Smith a solid streaming option and the second best only because he’s not playing Arizona.

Vance McDonald vs Cleveland – I trust Duck Hodges more than Mason Rudolph this time around and McDonald is on here for the same reason as he was 2 weeks ago. The Browns give up points to the TE position one way, and it’s by touchdowns. What more could you want from a streamer than a chance at one? The Steelers will need to stay competitive this game and the way they will is with McDonald. I expect this game to his the under as they played each other on TNF last week, but I would still play the match up and McDonald is a slam of a dart throw if you’re in need.

Jack Doyle vs Tennessee – Eric Ebron is on IR, and TY Hilton still isn’t 100%. The Colts will need to move the ball someway vs the Tennessee defense and to do that is to attack them with the tight end. He ran 11 routes against Houston, and saw 4 targets. I expect him to see more usage this week and uptake a big role without Ebron on the roster for the rest of the season. With Doyle, you could potentially be getting a tight end for rest of the season and not just this week.

T.J. Hockenson vs Chicago – Hockenson is always a good last ditch TE streamer if you’re desperate. Chicago has allowed the 6th most points to the position on the season and allowed a third string blocking tight end to get a touchdown. I think he should serve as a viable floor play, but I wouldn’t expect much and that’s why he is last on this list.
